Indiana University, Bloomington IN, USA. Two laboratories.

Dr Peter Finn (below) studies Alcoholism. Several recording cubicles are each equipped with a variety of measures, including Startle, peripheral measures (SC, EKG, etc.) and EEG (both ERP and power spectrum).

The large picture below shows the recording room at the other side of the window, with two large PSYLAB systems for the two cubicles providing all measurement and stimulation including shockers which are used in stress tasks.

Crystal (pictured below) currently manages the busy laboratory workload.

Alicia ajustus@indiana.edu is a grad student who is familiar with the use of PSYLAB software for data analysis, particularly ERP.

Dr Brian O’Donnell  bodonnel@indiana.edu studies schizophrenia using Startle and EEG (ERP and power spectrum). Paradigms included auditory oddball, images presented on a macintosh computer using a serial to parallell converter to link up with PSYLAB BIN8, and multiple short duration 1KHz tones presented at 20Hz and 40Hz, which can cause the EEG to ‘synchronise’ with these frequencies. The picture shows application of the ECI 10-20 cap, connected to a 16 channels of EEG8 amplifiers. One channel of these was also used for startle.

The data acquisition, EEG8 control and stimulators housed in the frame shown below include bi-lateral tone generators, white noise and a BIN8 connection to the Macintosh visual stimulus task computer.
